If the exit site is higher on the chest than the armpits, take your measurement directly under the arms.
If the exit site is at mid-chest height, take the measurement directly over the exit site.

Lifesaver for toddler with a central line
Our daughter came home from the NICU at 10 weeks old with a central line due to intestinal failure (short bowel syndrome). She required a 20 hour infusion of TPN. When she was tiny we would just carefully tape the tubing to her belly and try not to let the tubing snag or pull when we carried her around. It was scary and her line was yanked several times accidentally. By the time she was 7-8 months old, her infusion was only 14 hours long and we ran it at night. So we put her in a sleep sack and taped that tubing to her body, weaving it through the snaps on her sleepers and prayed she would not twist and turn too much. By the time she was 10 months old we were desperate to find something to secure her line. Grip-locks, medical tape, cinches... we tried everything...
She's had the Gus Gear since 10.5 months old and it has truly been a life saver. She is a busy 13 month old now and her tubing has been inadvertently pulled so many times - with no affect on her actual line. She is a wild sleeper and diaper changes are a wrestling match. The vest protects from pulls when her line is attached to tubing and it protects from her grabby hands when she is not connected to anything and in her diaper. We recommend having at least 2 on hand if one is soiled. She sleeps in this every single night and wears it in the hospital when she requires any meds through her line. She also wears it to appointments if she needs to be undressed. I imagine once she is a bit older and no longer wearing onesies or rompers, she will wear it all day long too.
It does feel a bit bulky on her but I really don't think she minds. She mostly hates just laying still to get everything on each night. Once she's free she's fine. Every week when the nurse does her dressing change, we make sure that her line is placed in a way so that it fits with the vest openings. After the first few dressing changes, it's very easy.

LIFE SAVER - LITERALLY
I cannot say enough great things about this product. Our little guy got his central line when he was 10 months old. He had pulled the skinny out of his dressing within hours of getting the line placed. He was bleeding and had to go back to IR to make sure it was still placed correctly. The first several days we had to change his dressing multiple times a day. His skin was breaking down and I was a mess with worry not to mention he didn't enjoy the dressing changes. I ordered the vest and once we started using it we FINALLY made it a week before we had to change the dressing. It was a night and day difference!!! Not only does the vest hold his line in place, it keeps his dressing safe during the many blow outs and vomits we have. I can't even imagine how many dressing changes the vest has saved us and probably many line infections because of that. We haven't had an infection yet a year later thankfully. I am so so so grateful to Gus Gear for this amazing product. Being a medical parent is hard enough with many worries and it is so nice that the vest can take away a few of those worries! Our gus gear central line vest is a must have. My daughter wears hers all the time and this vest has saved her line many times, especially once she started crawling and walking. It also keeps her hands away from her dressing and we can change the dressing weekly instead of every few days. This is a must have for little ones moving around constantly. This vest gives me so much peace of mind and makes our medical home just a little less stressful. Also costumer service is top notch. A MUST HAVE! NO PRODUCT COMES CLOSE!
We received the old style Gus Gear at the hospital in 2020 (no longer available), in 2021 we received the new style, which is available today. There was a learning curve with the new style, however, after using it you start to understand why the improvements make it better than the last. I COULD NOT IMAGINE MY SON GOING ONE SINGLE HOUR OF THE DAY WITHOUT HIS VEST ON. It provides me complete peace of mind, he cannot grab it, it can't get caught as he runs and jumps and finagles his 2 year old ninja body throughout the house! When he gets into the sink the vest takes on most of the water, protecting his central line bandage from being soaked.
I simply can't imagine not having this vest for him. This vest SPECIFICALLY! I searched high and low on all the platforms available for a vest, most of the vests are just cheaper, MUCH LOWER quality than this. I thought about buying from elsewhere but it didn't make since. Life changing
We were initially wary of ordering a central line wrap because it felt like an expensive investment if it didn't work ( we are in the UK). We have been using the central line wrap since our son started school and it has been life changing. His line is safely contained and secure whilst he is in school and we don't have to worry about it being pulled or broken. Every time we visit the hospital the medical professionals are impressed with the wrap. It has also taken some of the worry away at night because his line is secure when he rolls about in bed. We now have enough wraps for the week so that we can change them regularly and he wears one all of the time. It gives us peace of mind and takes away the worry about his line.

I emailed her with questions before placing my order and she responded right away. We have used Gus Gear central line wraps for approximately 7 years for our daughter Ava, who has a broviac line. We were a little hesitant and nervous to try the new design since we loved the original wraps so much. We definitely like the new ones and plan to order additional ones soon! In Ava’s words, “It’s different....but it’s GOOD!” According to Ava, she likes that the new vest does not have Velcro in the middle of her back that could catch on her shirt. One Less Thing to Worry About During Cancer Treatment
After talking about our troubles with his needle and port during the 24 hour chemo treatments (and multiple days hooked up to and iv 24/7), one of Colton’s pediatric oncology nurses recommended your product and showed me your website in clinic. A Must Have!
Prior to GusGear my daughter had many issues with broken lines, lost claves, loose dressings. It was a nightmare trying to keep her line safe and we were always worried about infection. Central Line Vest Protects
After having a line break in the hospital, we realized we needed better protection for our then six-month-old’s central line. The central line wrap protects her line from breaking and it also protects the Broviac dressing. We had been doing bi-weekly dressing changes because the dressing kept falling off, but since we started using the wrap, we are back to a weekly dressing change schedule.
Having used the wraps every single day for over four years, we have experienced firsthand how they keep our little one’s line safe. Even when she is connected to her backpack, she plays chase with her sisters, jumps on the trampoline, and goes to gymnastics class without fear of pulling or breaking her central line. In our four and a half years using gus gear, we've never had to replace the line because of any line trauma.
Everyone should use Gus Gear’s central line wrap! We cannot imagine life without it!

My daughter has worn the vest since we found it a year after she got her central line. We tried a different brand but it did not work well and she ended up needing a line repair with it. Since using the vest though she hasn't had any issues. I love that the updated vest closes on the sides and how I can remove it mid infusion if need be. It is very adjustable providing a good fit and closes on the side so no more Velcro rubbing on the back of her shirt. In fact, no Velcro rubbing anywhere. On top of that the material is a little thicker but more breathable. I like the slightly thicker option as I usually pin her g tube extension to the wrap with a diaper pin after tabbing the tape and with this material it holds up very well, no pin holes wearing into it and I don't have to worry about going through to her central line (very anal about that so it has never happened). I truly love this updated vest!

We bought my daughter Lila a central line vest a few weeks ago and are already completely dependent on it. Healthy development for Lila means becoming aware of her fingers and toes, tugging and pulling and putting EVERYTHING in her mouth - including her central line. I searched for a central line vest in desperation - it wasn’t sustainable to constantly be watching her little hands to make sure she wasn’t going to yank on her line. That’s when I found Gus Gear.
